Privacy policy
Effective 29 July 2026
This policy explains what personal information Jobcom handles and how we protect it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
For account holders: name, email and organisation details needed to operate the platform.
For applicants: the details and documents you choose to provide when you apply, such as your name, contact details, work rights and residency information, salary expectation, screening answers and resume. We also record the recruitment platform an application came from, and technical details such as the time of submission.
How we use it
We use account information to operate the platform. We use applicant information to consider you for the role you applied to and other roles that may suit you, and to contact you about your application. We do not sell personal information.
Your application and documents are shared with the hiring employer and its authorised representatives (for example, its migration agent), and are stored in that employer’s account within Jobcom so they can assess and contact you. Jobcom also accesses this information to operate and support the service.
Because Jobcom advertises roles as part of Labour Market Testing, we keep records of the recruitment process for the employer’s legitimate employment and compliance purposes. The compliance evidence we produce uses summary information only, such as the number of applicants and the general outcome, and does not publish individual applications.
Automated handling of applications
Where an employer chooses screened delivery, we use the answers you provide, such as your work rights and salary expectation, to decide automatically whether your application is forwarded to the employer immediately or held for a person to review. This affects routing only. It is not a decision about your suitability, it does not reject your application, and your application is retained and remains available to the employer and its adviser. A person makes any decision about your application.
How we protect it
Applicant documents are private and access-controlled. There are no public file links. Files are served only through short-lived signed links after a permission check, and every access is logged. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected and for legitimate record-keeping, then anonymise or delete it. See our data retention policy for detail.
Where your data is processed
Personal information is processed and stored in Australia, except where a sub-processor is disclosed as offshore. Our transactional email is sent through an offshore provider, so recipient email addresses and message content (never resumes or documents) are processed outside Australia. When a company or agent emails us job details to advertise, we use an AI provider to read that email and help draft the advertisement; only the business and job details in that message are processed this way. Applicant information, resumes, applications and documents are never sent to any AI or model provider.
The countries this overseas processing takes place in are set out on our sub-processors page. The full register, naming each provider, what it does, where it operates and the data it handles, is available on request through that page.
Your choices
You can ask what personal information we hold about you and request access, correction or deletion. Contact us and we will respond within a reasonable time.
